Getty Images and iStock are the two agencies that do not accept free-text keywords at all. Every submission is matched against their own controlled vocabulary, and a term that is not on that list is discarded without a word — which is why a keyword set that looked complete in your editor can arrive at ESP half empty, and why you only notice the gap once the file is already live.

MetaBrain settles that before you export. Keywords are checked against the Getty/iStock vocabulary and your everyday wording is translated into theirs: "workout" becomes Exercising, "cellphone" becomes Mobile Phone, "checkup" becomes Medical Exam. Words that carry several meanings in their list are resolved to the sense the image is actually about, and terms the vocabulary has no entry for are left out here rather than sent to ESP to die quietly. Getty and iStock share one vocabulary, so a set matched for one is the set the other accepts.

A flawless match is not something we promise: an unusual or very specific term can still come back unrecognised in ESP, and you delete it there. In everyday work that is the exception rather than the rule — the wording a stock file actually carries resolves, and the vocabulary keeps growing.

Export is the ESP layout the agencies actually ingest — Getty Creative, Creative Video and Editorial, plus the matching iStock profiles.

FAQ

Why does Getty drop keywords I submitted?

Getty Images and iStock do not accept free-text keywords. Submissions are matched against a controlled vocabulary, and anything absent from that list is discarded silently, so nothing tells you the set arrived thinner than you wrote it.

What does MetaBrain do about it?

It matches your keywords to the Getty/iStock vocabulary before export, rewrites your wording into their terms, resolves words that have several meanings there, and leaves out terms the vocabulary has no entry for.

Does it work for both Getty Images and iStock?

Yes. The two collections share one controlled vocabulary, so a set matched for Getty is the same set iStock accepts.

Is the match perfect?

No, and we do not claim it is. The keywords a stock file normally carries resolve; an unusual or very specific term can still come back unrecognised in ESP, and you remove it there. The vocabulary keeps growing.

Can I force or block specific keywords?

Yes. The correction system lets you require keywords that must always appear and ban ones you never want.

Is my content uploaded anywhere?

Adult-content detection runs on your device, and your files are processed for metadata only — not redistributed.
